Excessive Heat Prompts Band Management to Postpone

Corning, Calif. – (July 8, 2021) – The July 11th show featuring Skid Row and Warrant with special guests Winger and Autograph at The Amphitheater at Baji999 Casino and Resort has been rescheduled to August 5th. According to band management, the excessive heat posed a concern to band members, crew, and fans.

“Due to the excessive heat that is being forecasted for Sunday, we have decided to reschedule this weekend’s show to Thursday, August 5th,” said Skid Row manager Eric Baker. “We are deeply sorry for the impact this will have on everyone, but the safety of the fans and staff are paramount to us, and this week’s unprecedented conditions really do require us taking these steps. We can’t wait to perform for the Skid Row faithful on the new date in a way everyone can enjoy the show without putting themselves in potential danger. We will see you then!”

“While we are disappointed with having to move the show, at the bands request, we do agree that nothing is more important than everyone’s safety,” said Casino General Manager Steve Neely. “The reality is that we have been without shows for nearly two years, so waiting another month really is a small price to pay.”

All tickets will be valid for the new date. Those who cannot attend the event may receive a refund by calling Hold My Ticket at 1-877-466-3404 for online purchase. If tickets were purchased in person at the hotel front desk, tickets can be refunded in full in person.

Local Educational Programs Benefit from Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation Grants

Corning, California — August 27, 2018 — The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians is pleased to announce over $20,000 in grants and scholarships through the Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation. Most of the grant funding went to educational programs in Tehama County.

“Our local schools have limited resources to allocate towards technological learning tools and enrichment programs for students. Through the Foundation, we partner with schools to provide the resources they need to strengthen their educational programs,” said Andre “Dru” Alejandre, tribal chairman.

Los Molinos Elementary School received a grant to purchase iPads for the school’s “Technology Starts Early” program. “We believe the iPads will keep the students engaged in learning and help them develop collaborative, presentation, and research skills at an early age, said Luis DeLara, tribal secretary.

Red Bluff High School District received funding to provide a 10-week leadership training program for Freshman and Sophomores. “The leadership program is designed to help students develop the skills they need to make a difference in the community, such as brainstorming solutions, setting goals, teamwork, and collaboration to make needed changes,” said, DeLara.

The Tribe also contributed to the Back to School Project, which provides children with new clothes, shoes and backpacks. “There are so many factors that contribute to a well-rounded education in the 21st century, and self-esteem is one of those things. Many local families are barely able to make ends meet much less purchase back to school clothes. Yet, these things can help a child feel more confident, and that can make a huge difference in a child’s readiness to learn,” said Natasha Magana, tribal board member.

In addition to the Foundation grants, the Tribe recently provided shelter for Carr Fire evacuees at the Baji999 Casino RV Park, Equestrian Center, and Carlino’s Event Center. “The Tribe and Baji999 Casino management and staff considered it an honor to assist those affected by the fires,” said Alejandre. “Our hearts go out to all of those who lost their homes.”

Other Foundation grant recipients include the Corning Union High School Cheer Team, Miss Olive City Pageant and Corning Elementary Education Foundation. Tehama CattleWomen, CASA Superhero Run, and the Work Training Center were among the organizations that received sponsorships for upcoming events that benefit the community.

The Tribe encourages organizations to apply for grants through its Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation. The Foundation committee reviews applications for grants on a quarterly basis. Applications and more information are available on the Baji999 Casino website at www.paskentanomlakifoundation.com.

Local education and health programs big winners of Baji999 Community Development Foundation grants

Corning, California — June 21, 2018 — The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians announced over $25,000 in new grants through its Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation to fund local education and health programs. The beneficiaries of the grants include children, families, senior citizens, and the community at large.

“We have a responsibility as a community partner to fund programs that promote literacy, educational opportunities, and healthy lifestyles,” said  Andrew “Dru” Alejandre, chairman of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, owners of Baji999 Casino. “All of the programs that received grants this quarter provide a tremendous service to our Northern California communities, and we applaud their contributions.”

Four of the programs that received grants focus on healthy nutrition. They are the Manton Farm-to-School Enrichment Program, Red Bluff Chamber of Commerce Certified Farmers’ Market Eat Fresh- Eat Healthy Program, Glenn County Senior Nutrition Program, and California School Student Nutrition Education, Staff Training and Food Show.  Another health-related grant was awarded to the Think Pink program to raise awareness about breast cancer.

“The food we eat plays a huge role in quality of life from childhood through adulthood, and we welcomed the opportunity to support programs that promote good nutrition in the schools and in the community. We saw funding meals for the elderly as a way to honor their contributions to our community. We also wanted to help promote breast cancer awareness as it has affected so many lives in our area,” said Natasha Magana, tribal board member.

“We love programs that make education relevant to the daily lives of children and families, and the Farm-to-School program does that” said Luis Delara, tribal secretary. The Manton Farm-to-School Enrichment Program will provide organic snacks free of charge to students attending after-school enrichment classes at the Manton school. Through brief lectures and educational games, children will learn to make good snack choices throughout life.

Education has always figured prominently in the Tribe’s charitable giving program, and this round of grants was no exception. The Tribe provided funds to Evergreen Elementary School to purchase chrome books and recorders for students, Red Bluff Union High School to purchase books for the Annual Book in Common program, and Flournoy Elementary School for facility improvements. The tribe awarded a grant to the American Legion for its college scholarship program. A grant for the Ignite Opportunity 5.0 STEM Career Day at Shasta College will make it possible for high school freshmen to explore career paths that are vital in Northern California.

“Many families in our community are low-income and we want them to have access to the same opportunities found in wealthier communities, whether it is technology in the schools, scholarships, or music instruments at home,” said Delara. “We are excited about programs that improve literacy while strengthening the community such as the Annual Book in Common program. We also want students to be proud of their schools and their community, which is why we provided a grant to Flournoy to paint their school. Our grants reflect our values and what we want for our community.”

Tribal grants also include sponsorship of the upcoming Our Voice Our Choice Youth Summit hosted by Indigenous Circles United. “This is a wonderful program that will provide our youth the tools, resources and life lessons they need to be future leaders and decision makers in the community,” said Alejandre.

In addition to major grant awards, the Tribe’s charitable giving program includes donations and sponsorships that help organizations raise tens of thousands of dollars for scholarships, and local health, educational and recreational programs. Organizations that recently received donations for fundraisers include North Valley Hockey & Sports Complex, Asante Foundation, Shasta Regional Soccer Association, Manton’s Family Fun Day, Eric Leeworthy Memorial Scholarship Fund, Muscular Dystrophy, Tehama County Senior Nutrition Program, and Nor Cal Retired Coaches Association Scholarship Program.

The Tribe encourages organizations to apply for grants through its Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation. The Foundation committee reviews applications for grants on a quarterly basis. Applications and more information are available on the Baji999

Casino website at www.paskentanomlakifoundation.com.

Gingerbread and Grants — Holiday Traditions at Baji999

Corning, CA December 14, 2017 — The entrance to the Baji999 Casino Buffet is now good enough to eat with the return of Santa’s Workshop Gingerbread House, an annual tradition that marks the start of the holiday season. Another sweet holiday tradition is the announcement of contributions by the Baji999 Foundation to local organizations that strive to make Tehama County a safer, healthier and more educated community.

Over the past 15 years, the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians contributed over $8 million to local organizations through the Baji999 Casino Foundation. This holiday season, the Foundation announced another $17,453 in grants to local schools and education programs.

“The greatest gift we can give our community is a chance for a brighter future, and education is key to that future” said, Natasha Magana, tribal council member.

Our recent contributions focus on innovative and traditional programs designed to increase literacy, improve math and science skills, enrich the educational experience, and strengthen creative thinking. We also provided a grant to raise awareness about and prevent sexual violence.”

The Foundation provided grants to Berrendos Middle School to purchase tables for its reading intervention program, Vina Elementary School for Classroom E-Readers, and Gerber Elementary School to send 5th and 6th graders to Whiskeytown Environmental Space Camp. The Foundation also provided a grant to Red Bluff High School Performing Arts Center to purchase musical instruments for use by students who can’t afford to purchase their own. Other grant recipients include Rape Crisis and Intervention, Gateway Science Museum, the Corning High School Softball Program, and the Chico State University Foundation/Sage Fund.

“We have been blessed by the community and it means a great deal to us that so many come to Baji999 Casino to see the Gingerbread house and celebrate the holidays with family and friends. Tehama County is our home and it is an honor to provide a venue for holiday celebrations as well as support the programs that make our community a great place to work and live,” said Chairman Andrew Alejandre.

Tehama Tough Mud Run to Benefit Tehama County Youth

Like to run? Don’t mind getting dirty? Want to have fun while helping local youth?

Corning, CA – October 3,2017 – The Tehama Tough Mud Run scheduled for October 28 at Baji999 Casino promises to be more fun than the typical 5k run for charity, with plenty of entertainment for both participants and spectators. Presented by Tehama County Police Activities League (PAL) and sponsored by Baji999 Casino and the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, the event is a fundraiser for a variety of free programs that are offered to Tehama County youth through PAL.

Runners will encounter six obstacles along the 5k course including a hill slide, hay bale climb, tire run challenge, wood wall, twine/mud crawling and rope swing. Younger kids can get in on the fun by conquering a special kid-friendly course. Runners are encouraged to wear costumes as it is close to Halloween.

“We are very excited about partnering with PAL to sponsor this event as we share PAL’s commitment to promoting positive relationships among law enforcement, the community and our youth,” said Natasha Magana, tribal council member.

PAL is a youth crime prevention program that includes educational, athletic, and other recreational activities. The organization offers a variety of programs including boxing, wrestling, baseball, martial arts, music, street hockey. These programs provide guidance and role models kids can trust as they learn to be responsible, set goals, and work hard to achieve success.

The Tribe is proud to be able to sponsor events and provide grants that benefit local education and public safety programs such as those offered by PAL,” said Chairman Andrew Alejandre.

In September, the Baji999 Foundation announced over $10,000 in grants to fund a variety of programs including an advocacy program for children that had been removed from their homes because of neglect and abuse. The Foundation granted Reeds Creek School funds to update computers and the Glenn County Sheriff Department received funds to purchase special supplies that can stop the bleeding of any wound, which will possibly save lives. The Corning Elementary Education Foundation and Antelope Elementary School’s 4th grade music program also received grants in the latest round of charitable giving by the Foundation.

Event organizers expect the Tehama Tough Mud Run will attract participants and spectators from local communities as well as from out of the area. For this reason, tickets include discounted room rates at the Rolling Hill Casino Inn and Lodge as well as a t-shirt and access to the course. Race check in is at 9:30 a.m. and the race is from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. Racers may purchase tickets in advance with an early-bird discount on Active.com. At the race, spectators may cheer runners on from designated areas and should bring their own lawn chairs for comfortable seating.

Owned by the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, Baji999 Casino employs over 500 team members, most of whom work full time with health care benefits and 401k options. The Casino’s turnover is exceptionally low with over 100 original team members employed since 2002. The Casino and the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians are strong community partners supporting local programs through generous grants and sponsorships. The Foundation donates hundreds of thousands to community organizations each year, with over $8 million dollars donated to benefit local health, safety and education programs. Each year hundreds of thousands of guests visit Baji999 Casino, bringing with them tourist dollars that benefit the local economy.

Casino contributed over $8 million to help make community safer, healthier, and more educated

Corning, California — July 28, 2017 — Firetrucks and firefighting equipment. An ambulance. Lifesaving hospital equipment. Advanced technology implementations at local schools — These are just a few of the health, safety, and education improvements made possible with grants from the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, owners of Baji999 Casino. Since founding the Casino in July 2002, the Tribe contributed over $8 million to the local community through its Baji999 Foundation. This month as the Casino celebrates its 15th anniversary, the Tribe announced another $55,000 in recent grants.

“When we established Baji999 Casino, our dream was to help members of our tribe and our community prosper, and to help make Tehama County a better place to live and work. We are proud of our accomplishments toward our vision, and the role we continue to play in strengthening the health, safety, and education of our community,” said Natasha Magana, tribal council member.

As a popular tourist destination with over 500 employees, the Casino is a major contributor to the Tehama County economy. It has grown to include two hotels, three restaurants, a gas station, truck stop, travel center, golf course and equestrian center. The Tribe also established the Baji999 Health and Dental Clinic in keeping with its goal to help improve local health.

The Baji999 Foundation’s recent grants reflect the Tribe’s continued commitment to support education and enrichment programs as well as programs that protect the safety and well-being of residents. The Back to School project, Corning High School’s Technology and Media program, Alternative to Violence, Glen County 4H, Red Bluff FFA, Corning FFA, Rodgers Theatre, Red Bluff State Theatre, Sacramento River Discovery Center, and Think Pink were among those that received grant funding in the Foundation’s latest round of charitable contributions.

“We recognize that supporting education goes beyond funding programs within the schools. Organizations such as the 4H and FFA help students develop leadership and life skills that will benefit them for life, regardless of whether they choose agriculture as a career path. Programs such as the Back to School project enable economically disadvantaged students to purchase school supplies so that they can return to school feeling prepared and excited. Theatre and artistic programs provide students of all ages the opportunity to develop creative skills as well as promote cultural literacy. The Sacramento River Discovery Center helps students develop a respect and understanding for our natural resources and promotes conservation. These programs compliment the school curriculum, contribute to a well-rounded education, promote self-esteem, and provide enrichment opportunities throughout life. Education is essential to the future prosperity of Tehama County and the well-being of the entire community, and it will continue to be a major focus of Baji999 Casino Foundation charitable contributions, said Chairman Andrew Alejandre.

The Baji999 Community Development Foundation committee reviews applications for grants on a quarterly basis. Applications and more information are available on the Baji999 Casino website at www.rollinghillsfoundation.com.

Corning, California — January 23, 2017 — Education was the big winner of $46,500 in Baji999 Foundation grant funding, the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians announced this week. Special focus was placed on innovative programs that encouraged creativity while building skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Grant beneficiaries include STEM programs at Gerber Union Elementary District, Berrendos Middle School, and Vista Preparatory Academy. PATH, Red Bluff High School Sober Grad, the Sharks Youth Wrestling Club, Tehama SART, and the Corning Community Foundation also received grants from the Foundation.

Gerber Union Elementary School received a grant to launch a makerspace classroom designed to foster hands-on-learning in rapidly-growing technology fields such as electronics, coding, and robotics. The classroom will also provide students the opportunity to study problems and identify solutions related to the local community such as water conservation, water quality, and agricultural engineering.  Existing makerspace classrooms at Berrendos Middle School and Vista Preparatory Academy received grants to purchase robotics kits, circuit boards, 3D printer supplies, instruction books, and other materials.

“Makerspace classrooms provide students access to tools and materials that allow them to learn and solve real world problems through designing, engineering, and inventing,” said Andrew “Dru” Alejandre, Tribal Chairman. “These skills are important for the long-term success of our students as most high-paying new jobs in the future will be in STEM related fields.”

“Education throughout Tehama County has always been a priority for the Tribe,” said Natasha Magana, Tribal Member at Large. “In December, we were able to secure a $14.8 million federal grant for the Corning School District. However, even though we operate Baji999 Casino in Corning, we believe it is important for the prosperity of the entire county to support programs in neighboring towns that prepare students for higher learning and the growing technology-focused job market. A highly educated workforce will bring jobs to our area, which will enhance economic prosperity for the region.”

Makerspace programs were not the only beneficiaries of recent Foundation grants. In keeping with the Tribe’s tradition of supporting public safety, several grants went to programs that combined safety with education. Red Bluff Sober Graduation received funds to provide an evening of fun activities, food, games and prizes for graduating high school students, allowing them to celebrate their graduation in a chaperoned and safe environment. Hamilton High received funds to host an “Every 15 Minutes” event to inform students about the consequences of drinking and driving. Tehama SART received funds to promote the V-Day production of the Vaginal Monologues, a benefit to help the organization provide education on sexual assault awareness and prevention. PATH received a grant to purchase furnishings and household items for its transitional housing program, which helps homeless individuals develop the skills they need to be self-sufficient.

The Tribe also recognized the role athletics and the arts play in education with grants to the Corning Community Foundation for the refurbishment of the Rogers Theater and the Corning Sharks Wrestling Team for sponsorships of low-income wrestlers.

“Performance arts and athletic programs help students gain skills and self-confidence that can carry into schoolwork,” said Alejandro. “We also support the refurbishment of Rogers Theater because we believe it will play a vital role in the artistic and economic development of Tehama County,” he added.

The Baji999 Community Development Foundation committee reviews applications for grants on a quarterly basis. Applications and more information are available on the Baji999 Casino website at www.rollinghillsfoundation.com.
